WHAT DOES A FULL OR ALL BLACK OR BLACKOUT AMERICAN FLAG MEAN?

Through-out when an army displays a White Flag this is a symbol of surrender. The White Flag means that the approaching combatants are requesting quarter with your army. In other words it means the soldier or army is surrounding to you peacefully. In some cases two enemy sides can meet under two White Flags to meet for negotiation or terms of a peaceful end to the conflict by one or both sides.

When the Black Flag is displayed by an army or soldier this means the polar opposite of the meaning of the White Flag. The Black Flag means the army or soldier will take no quarter. This means they will fight to the death and take no surrender and they reject any peaceful end other than the complete and total desolation of their enemy. The Black Flag means kill or be killed. It can also mean the ultimate sign of distress within a country when the Black Flag is displayed.

Black, of course, has long been associated with death. Historically an all Black Flag would be flown by a ship that was containing Plague Victims…this was a warning to other passing ships to Stay Away. By these ships flying an all Black Flag it was saying to any other ships to Stay Back as the Black Flag ship was a Death Ship

Pirates used to use a Black Flag, that they would raise at the very last moment to the approaching ship. The pirate strategy was mostly to use the Black Flag as a means to intimidate their prey into surrendering without a fight. Pirates where know, of course as very brave fighters, but they generally preferred to take a ship without a battle. I mean, who wouldn’t right?

To honor history, Etherton Hardwoods is pleased to make an All Black Signature Patriot Wooden American Flag. 100% Made by Veterans. SEMPER FIDELIS.

The Signature Heritage Flag is made using a proprietary woodworking technique, that allows us to Char the Peaks of the Grain but not the Low Parts or the Valley of the Grain. We call this the, Etherton Woodworking Process™.

This is our top of the line wood flag. First the wood is slow charred. Then it’s carefully hand rubbed to bring out the natural color of the wood grain. Next, we meticulously Raise the Grain (this is when the magic happens). The texture of the wood becomes multi-dimensional and the colors fall into place on the wood as it Rises Up through the Char. At the completion of the Etherton Woodworking Process™ the wood is also naturally RESISTANT to Water and Insects. This is achieved without ANY chemicals at all.

The Etherton Woodworking Process ™ is an ancient technique that was lost to the Ages, until the Master-craftsmen at Etherton Hardwoods™ discovered it and have now brought it back to life. There are ancient buildings throughout the world that used this technique and they are now many hundreds of years old….yet they still look as though they were built yesterday.

Includes a custom made french cleat on the back of the flag so it has everything included to hang on your wall.

Proudly display your love for America  in your home or business with our NATURAL GRAIN Hand Carved Charred American Flag Size: 24” X 14” X 1”

Material: Spruce and Poplar

Hardware: Hanging hardware included (hand crafted french cleat)

NOTE: This is a “rustic” flag design. It is supposed to have minor imperfections. In the way Dolly Madison ran back into the White House, during the fire of 1812, to grab the only known painting of George Washington off the wall. It’s battle worn, it’s been burned, bloodied, torn, soiled. It has been ripped to pieces and placed back together again. It’s flawed and imperfect...yet it still stands.
